Last week we lost in over time to the GPAC #2 team Concordia at Concordia. Our top three leading scorers were out for most of the game; Kela was sick, Kylie got hit in the head and suffered a concussion late in the second, and Megan Salcedo also got elbowed in the head but came back in the game towards the end of the second. We had 26 turnovers and only shot 50% from the free throw line. If that wasn't handing the game to them on a silver platter, I don't know what is. The good news is we have a chance for redemption at our place. A big win against them at home will show them and everyone else that it was just a fluke!
Saturday we bounced back with a HUGE win over GPAC #3 Hastings. Kylie was out with her concussion, but we had Kela and Megan back which really helped the team. The post players dominated the game by getting their leading scorer and All-American rebounder in foul trouble early!
WE ARE HEADING TO FLORIDA ON FRIDAY TO KEEP IT ROLLING! We play Waldorf College and Dickinson State while in Florida, and then we get to go on a four day cruise to the Florida Keys and Cozumel, Mexixco! What a way to end the semester!
Happy Holidays everyone :)

New Rankings!
Hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving with their families! Over the break, the Chargers took two more wins from Doane and Dakota State. The new rankings for the GPAC and the national polls and the Chargers are leading the GPAC with the #1 spot and #2 in the NATION! We're all very excited to see that our hard work is paying off, and we're all very proud!
This week we go to Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday and UNO on Saturday for an exhibition game.
Also, we are all looking forward to our Florida trip in 17 days. We will play Dickinson State and Waldorf in Florida and go on a 4 day cruise!!! We are all ready to get away and have some fun together!
Wish us luck this week as we keep rollin' to the Championship!

Chargers Upset #1
This week the Chargers beat the current ranked #1 Northwestern at their own gym. It was a great win for us since we haven't won in Orange City in 9 years! We're hoping to be climbing up in the next rankings in the beginning of December. This weekend we head to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD to take on Dakota Wesleyan. Tuesday we face off with Doane in the Newman Flanagan before going into Thanksgiving break!
Alex Grant has joined practice again after coming off of a ACL tear last winter. She's easing back into some half court drills, and her presence on the court will help us climb even higher once February rolls around. Mattie Murren is struggling with some back issues, but played a little at Northwestern and practiced the last two days. I had my second round of knee draining and cortisone/sinvisc shots and back in action today for the weekend.
All is well on the women's team and this week more than ever, it's a great season to be a Charger!! :)

Chargers #5 Preseason!
Happy Halloween everyone :)This week the Chargers were ranked #5 in the coach's preseason poll! Great news for us! M'side came in #2, which we all had a few things so say about so I guess we'll settle that battle in January when we meet at the Tyson!
Last weekend we had our first scrimmages vs Northeast CC and Iowa Lakes CC. Overall we played well, and it's clear that the Chargers are in great shape as a team and we're shooting lights out!
This week in practice we're focusing on rebounding and our presses as we go into our Grandview tournament for our first games next Friday and Saturday. We'll be facing two top 25 teams, Grandview and Iowa Wesleyan.
Our first home game is a week from Monday, too! I hope to see all the Charger fans filling the seats cheering us on as we chase down our national tourney birth!

Chargers Rank #2 in GPAC Preseson!
The BCU Women's team is grinding out this week of practice and going into some scrimmages this weekend at Morningside. It will be nice to finally have some competition rather than continuous practices. All the girls are excited to compete and see where we're at as a team. The Chargers were ranked #2 in the GPAC Preseason polls last week also, following Northwestern. We're excited to be thought that highly of and are eager to prove we're top contenders in the GPAC this year.
We're struggling with some team injuries, and can't wait to get Alex Grant back on the floor with us following her knee rehab. With all these injuries and set backs early on in the season, it's only making us a stronger team and we're getting better each and every day. Ready to compete this weekend!
